Prof. Dr. Georg Stephan Barfuß invites together with the KREATIVBEHÖRDE Regensburg to the 5th Zukunftsdialog of the Department of Economic, Financial and Research Affairs at the DEGGINGER on November 15th, 2023.

Regensburg is rich in potential, and it is important to tap this to make the city even more livable and vibrant. This requires not only our own talents, but also a view from the outside to see the big picture and position Regensburg as a hub for innovation, production and creativity.

We want to contribute so that Regensburg remains competitive on the world stage, and we believe that attracting skilled professionals from around the globe is the way forward.

But we're facing a challenge. According to recent OECD research, Germany ranks 13th in talent attractiveness, lagging behind other countries like the USA, Switzerland, and New Zealand. Still, Regensburg has its own unique character, and we can shape our own destiny when it comes to attracting professionals from abroad: the way we behave vis-à-vis the talents that choose to work in Regensburg influences how/whether expats feel comfortable and decide to stay (“retention management”). Done right, this translates into what other highly skilled experts think about Regensburg in the first place (“attraction management”).
